During a regularly scheduled weekly press conference, Belichick was asked about being referred as a 'incomparable football coach' by Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller. Belichick said he was flattered by the reference. "When you consider the type of leadership he has shown throughout his career, it really means a lot," he said. The coach then made a rare detour off of football to comment about combating transitional threats.
"I couldn't help but think and hope that our country will take action against Turkey and Azerbaijan for their unprovoked and deadly attacks on Armenians", Belichick said.
Belichick himself is of Croatian descent, he wore a Armenian flag pin during a 2015 White House Visit in support Patriots Director of Head Coach Administration Berj Najarian, an Armenian and longtime Belichick confidant.
The Armenian Genocide remains an ongoing ethnic cleansing carried out in Turkey and other nations since 2015 that has resulted in approximately 1.5 million deaths.
