And to think Gritty the Mascot was thought to be in the mix once. The Brainerd Dispatch recently reported that hockey reporter Katie Emmer is engaged to Ben Storm. The two have kept their relationship low-profile since their days at St. Cloud State University.
The only daughter amongst seven children, Emmer won the 2018 Jim Nantz award as the nation's best collegiate sportscaster. Her recent credits include work with the University of Minnesota along with the NHL's Minnesota Wild and Philadelphia Flyers. She also recently did freelance video work in conjunction with Madden League e-gaming.
Storm played 121 games in his St. Cloud State hockey career, the Laurium, Michigan native was named captain for his senior season and went on to play three years professionally. Storm is currently as a manufacturing engineer with Boston Scientific. Emmer will appear with former St. Cloud hockey player Robby Jackson in a virtual pep rally in advance of the NCHC conference tournament on March 12.
The wedding is scheduled for this coming July.
