For the first time in nine months, attendance was allowed for English football matches this weekend, and the first opportunity for spectators to sound off on continued player support for the Black Lives Matter movement. At Millwall, both the home side and visiting Derby County took a knee before the opening kick in support of soccer's anti-racism message, resulting in boos from supporters. Derby's Colin-Kazim Richards and Millwall's Mahlon Romeo were among those who called out those 'spreading hatred' and the English Football Association also condemned the spectators actions. Located in South East London, the Millwall Bushwackers have been known for generations for hooligan actions that have been portrayed in films and documentaries.
Currently only 2,000 locals are allowed for matches, with visiting fans not permitted.
