Congressman-Elect Letlow Dead From COVID Complications

Stunning and tragic news out of Louisiana as it is learned that Congressman-Elect Luke Letlow has died from COVID-19 at age 41. Letlow announced Dec. 18 that he had tested positive, was hospitalized the next day and transferred to an ICU unit Dec. 24. According to LSU Health Shreveport, Letlow suffered a heart attack following a procedure related to the Covid-19 virus.


Letlow's passing was confirmed by Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards and also confirmed by two other Republican sources to CNN. Letlow won a Dec. 5 runoff election to replace retiring Rep. Ralph Abraham and was scheduled to assume office Jan. 3. Governor Edwards has announced there will be special election on March 20 to fill Letlow's seat in the 5th Congressional District.
