Despite sitting out the last two Grand Slam events, Australia's Ashleigh Barty will retain her status at No. 1 in the WTA Rankings through the end of 2020. Nowhere near Roland Garros, Barty attended the Brisbane Lions v. Richmond Tigers AFL first-round Finals contest. Midway through the final quarter she was spotted on the Seven Network telecast with a fist pump with her right hand and a beer in her left. 'Our true queen...' exclaimed one social media post, another noted that the fist pump/beer represented 'bloody everything', and proclaimed Barty as a 'true legend'.
Incidentally, crowd restrictions at Australian sports events (at least outside of Melbourne) have been eased somewhat into the 50 percent level.
