A retired journeyman catcher who played a key role in the Milwaukee Brewers 2018 success has called out National League rivals who made the playoffs that season for using elaborate systems in relay signs to hitters in much the same fashion as the Houston Astros.
Erik (K)ratz appeared on a Yes Network podcast where he named one team and all but gave away the identity of the second.
"I don't know anybody over there, (but) the Colorado Rockies were doing the exact same thing in 2018, and we caught them," Kratz said. They used to take a Theragun and bang it on their metal bench."
Kratz contended that like the Astros, the Rockies relayed signs seen on the television broadcast feed. Kratz also hinted about another team.
"I can tell you a team that has been to the World Series, often, recently, we caught them doing something almost similar."
A team that goes to the World Series often? You mean the one that the Brewers lost to in Game 7 of the 2018 National League Championship Series?
Hope Joe Kelly and the Dodgers enjoy their trip to Houston this coming week (May 25-26).
If we keep going down the rabbit hole I am sure more teams in recent years have also done some sort of sign stealing shenanigans - maybe even (gasp) the Brewers.
If you are not cheating you are not trying:)
