It does not come as a surprise, but one of the 10 scheduled championship games in FBS football set for this weekend is off.
No. 12 Coastal Carolina was set to square off against No. 19 Louisiana - but the game is now off due to Covid issues within the Chanticleers program. A bummer as the game would have game the fast-improving Sun Belt Conference needed exposure, with teams on the same level as USC and Oregon, scheduled in the Pac-12 Championship. The two teams are declared co-champions. Both schools enjoyed outstanding seasons, Louisiana finishes the year 9-1, including handing now No. 6 ranked Iowa State its lone loss in the season opener.
11-0 Coastal Carolina gained national prominence two weeks ago by knocking off previously undefeated BYU on two days notice. Despite it's lofty ranking, The Chanticleers are projected out of the New Year's Six picture.
