Randy Arozarena Detained After Domestic Dispute

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder detained in Mexico's Yucatán after allegedly trying to abduct his daughter from her mother and assaulting that woman's father. The case has gotten the attention of Major League Baseball's Department of Investigations. Arozarena rose from obscurity in the 2020 postseason with a record 10 home runs and 29 base hits. He arrived in Mexico after defecting from Cuba in 2015 and signed as an international free agent with the St. Louis Cardinals shortly thereafter. After the 2019 season, Arozarena was dealt from the Cardinals to Tampa in a multi-player trade. Arozarena's time in St. Louis was best remembered for streaming manager Mike Schildt's expletive-filled celebration speech after a playoff series win in Atlanta.
